Technology wood.

With the help of a pencil I designed a sketch of 8 designs. Oh each design it had to have a housing joint, that has to be possible to create.  I then had to choose one of the designs.

I then wrote a paragraph that explains the reasons for my choice as to why I chose that design: 'What is it?, Why choose it?, Why choose this one?, What is it for?, Who is it for?, How will it be used?, Where will it be used? Is there anything I have to consider for its safe use?'.

I used a bench hook, mallet, tri square, steel ruler, backed saw to make a full size working drawing of my box because .

I used a steel ruler and a tri square to copy the measurements from my drawing onto the piece of wood.

I marked a square line (120) across and using a steel ruler and a tri square.

I cut off the first piece of wood using a machine that cuts wood.

I then marked out the housing joint using pencil, tri square and steel ruler.

Hard Materials_A joint

First I cut the wood 190cm, then I drew joint outlines so I could cut the outline to make a joint, after cutting the join I put to wood pieces to put in the joints. A joint is what connects to pieces of wood together.

KPMG!!!

Today the year 7 & 8 extension group had a choice to go to KPMG. KPMG is a business company. We traveled by bus to get to KPMG in Auckland city. We learnt about the water ways, marine water life, and solutions to problems concerned about earths water. For morning tea we ate fruit kebabs and some scones with butter, jam, and whipped cream.

We then went for a 5 minute walk to a little building called 'Sustainable Coast Lines'. A lady presented a presentation that gave us a lesson on how important and essential water is to our lives.  We also studied about how much water covered our earth. After the presentation we took some photos and walked back to KPMG.

For lunch we ate burgers and some pastry that contained sauce. After eating lunch, we researched about our Atua that was called Tangaroa, Tanagaroa is the god of the ocean but other countries recognise him in different ways, for example Tanagroa is known as the God of the sky in Tonga. We had to design a robot that could help the water ways and do something about the ghost nets in the sea. The robot that was designed to help get ghost nets out of the water and make something useful about it. Sadly it was time to go home, we said thank you and headed back to school at 2:00.

Technology Wood

I have chosen to make a mirror frame for me.
I think this is the best choice because it has a mirror.
It will be used to look at myself, it will also be placed on my dresser.
For this project I will have to consider that I will have to buy a mirror and stick it on the mirror frame.
