My Reflection From Textiles.
A few weeks into term 1 we focused on how to thread the sewing machine and the different types of fabric. Later on, we learned how to sew using a sewing machine. Then we cut out the fabric by 15 inches by 15 inches. On the fabric, we drew an outline of a square by 14 inches by 14 inches, we drew this box to plan where we are going to sew. We then practiced how to sew straight and diagonal on a sheet of paper, after sewing on the sheet of paper we had to show it to Ms. Tuipulotu to check if we knew how to sew properly if she said yes then we could go sew our fabric for the cushion.

Compass directions on a map.
This term our inquiry is "I like you latitude". We learn't about the compass directions. We had to look at the map of New Zealand and compare different places using the compass directions. For example: Point England School is on the east side of Auckland.

Careers Talk.
Today three people came to Pt England School to teach us about three different careers. Jason Young is a man who worked at Dysart. He participated in the triathlon called 'Iron Man'. He attended Pt England School and was a student at Tamaki College. He told us what inspired him to work at Dysart and who were his idols. He was the first person to speak to Pt England School (Team 5).
The second person to speak to us was Fiona Bakulich. She is a funeral director and truly cares for people around death. She likes to achieve her goals and she is also on tv show "Casketeers". She is Ms Telea's sister. She explained what she does in her career and how she feels like in her career.
The last person to talk to us was Tanielu Tele'a. He also attended Pt England School and was a student at St Kents. He likes to make the most of his opportunities. He told us his challenges and gave us advice.
